Lila Theatre Training Center
The Lila Theatre Training Center is a great place for people to study, learn, and perform improvisational theatre in San Francisco. The classes, taught by the innovative artists of Lila Theatre, are dedicated to helping students develop their artistic voice, both individually and within an ensemble. Students learn solid technique and theory while improvising in a culture of openness and support.
Learn and perform a variety of techniques and forms, including the granddaddy of all long-forms, the Harold: created by legendary improv guru, Del Close, developed at IO Theater in Chicago, and brought back to San Francisco by Lila Theatre.
Whether you're a professional artist looking for incredible improvisational theatre technique, or an individual searching for a creative outlet, Lila Theatre gives you a safe space to learn, play, and connect in a joyful community.

"Lila is the good and the bad, the loud and the quiet, the slow and the fast. It is being emotionally invested in the moment at hand while always playing to the top of your intelligence. It is play. Play in its purist form."
- Marcus Sams Long-Form Improvisation Student
"The artists at Lila Theatre are truly passionate about their craft and teaching the art of improv. They are natural at both....What instinctive and intuitive teachers!"
- Martha Zlatar The Artist Way Student
- Julie Potter Long-Form Improvisation Student
"Perhaps the most wonderful thing about Lila is its respect for improvisation. It treats improvisation as it ought to be treated, as legitimate and important theatre."
- Kenn Adams Thematic Conservatory Program Student
“My instructor is full of energy, patience, and very supportive. She creates a safe environment in which to take risks, and makes the experience a ton of fun.”
- Jeff Stein Long-Form Improvisation Student
